The Healthy Living Team at Vale of Glamorgan Council are proudly working in partnership with Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, Sport Wales and a host of third sector organisations to improve physical activity and sport opportunities for residents aged 60+ across the Vale of Glamorgan.

This is a project targeted at people aged 60+ who are not active or those who do not participate in activity very often. In consultation with the local 60+ population and our partners, we have organised a programme of activities to give people the chance to try out new activities and if they like them, continue to participate. This will take shape by providing targeted individuals with a ‘free pass’ to join existing sessions, either in the community or at their local leisure centre, taking the financial barrier away from the participant, the Vale of Glamorgan will then reimburse the provider once the participant uses their ‘free pass’. The rationale behind this ‘free pass’ is that once the initial free sessions are finished, the participant will ideally continue with the activity at the sessions of choice.

This project aims to not only increase the amount of time people are active but also hopes to increase opportunities to meet new people and socialise with others.
